Ofgem’s executive director of consumers and markets Mary Starks is to leave her role after nearly two years.
The regulator said a consultation was underway to find a “new flatter and broader leadership structure”.
Separately, Joe Perkins, who was Ofgem’s chief economist, has left his role, which Maureen Paul has taken over as interim. Paul will also head Ofgem’s office for research and economics.
Starks joined the energy regulator in September 2018 after previously serving as the director of competition and chief economist at the Financial Conduct Authority.
Confirming her departure Jonathan Brearley, Ofgem’s chief executive, thanked Starks for her service.
He said: “As an internal consultation takes place on a new flatter and broader leadership structure to meet our future challenges, Mary Starks will be moving on from Ofgem.
“Mary has made a huge contribution over the past two years in overseeing Ofgem’s work to protect consumers.
“On behalf of everyone at Ofgem, I want to thank Mary for the fantastic job she has done, and to wish her the very best for the future.”
Brearley has been reshaping his top team as he begins his tenure, recently bringing in former deputy director at the cabinet office Neil Kenward as director for strategy and decarbonisation.
Perkins, who spent four years with the regulator, has moved to be head of research and senior vice president at economic consultancy, Compass Lexecon.
