The average water and sewerage bill in England and Wales is set to rise by 3.5 per cent to £388 in 2013/14, Ofwat announced today. That represents a slight bump over inflation of 3.0 per cent.
Thames Water customers will see the biggest rise, of 5.5 per cent. Of the water-only companies, Bristol Water is making the steepest hike, of 6.3 per cent.
Meanwhile, a £50 government rebate for every South West Water customer kicks in, cutting bills in the region by 7.3 per cent. At £499, the company’s average combined bill remains the highest in the country, with Wessex Water following on £478.
Severn Trent customers will continue to enjoy the lowest bills, of £335.
