Following consultation, the regulator confirmed it had no issues with the estimated £128 million takeover by the Canadian company that took place on 5 October.
The sole consultation response came from the Consumer Council for Water and supported the view that no modifications were needed to Bristol Water’s appointment conditions.
While Ofwat has no formal role in merger and acquisition activity, it looks at whether the owner of a water company is “fit and proper” to carry out that role.
