Ombudsman Services appoints new director of operations

Ombudsman Services has appointed Lyndy Geddes as its new director of operations.

Geddes joins the team at Ombudsman Services in Daresbury from the General Medical Council (GMC), where she was interim assistant director of the Medical Practitioners Tribunals Service.

As a member of the Ombudsman Services executive team, Geddes will make a substantial contribution to the delivery of its growth strategy, while also ensuring it continues to provide a world-class alternative dispute resolution service.

In her previous roles, Geddes also worked on the Newbury Bypass and Heathrow Terminal 4 public inquiries.

She then transferred to the Department of Food, Environment and Rural Affairs (Defra), where she had key roles in developing the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000 and the Fox Hunting and Alley Gating Bills.

And despite having no previous experience, she is also taking part in the 2017-2018 Clipper Race.

The race is a gruelling 40,000 nautical mile race around the world on a 70-foot ocean racing yacht.

“We are delighted that Lyndy is joining Ombudsman Services as director of operations,’ said chief ombudsman, Lewis Shand Smith.

“She brings a great depth of experience in improving capability in complex organisations.

“This is a timely appointment for us as we look to grow our business and help even more consumers and businesses across the UK access the benefits of independent complaint handling.

“She’s a great fit for our organisation and we are really looking forward to her joining us to take things forward,” he added.
