On the Move: SVT, Thames, RenewableUK

Severn Trent

The water company’s chief financial officer James Bowling will leave in July and be succeeded by current capital and commercial services director Helen Miles.

Bowling, who joined the company in 2015, said he will pursue a non-executive career after stepping down from Severn Trent and its board in July.

When Miles assumes the role, Severn Trent will be the first water company – and only FTSE100 company – to have a female chief executive, chair and chief financial officer.

James Jesic, director of customer operations, will take over from Miles’ position while also remaining in the role of managing director of Hafren Dyfrdwy.

RenewableUK

The trade body’s deputy chief executive, Melanie Onn, will step down at the end of March after three years championing renewables and developing the Just Transition Tracker framework, which sets out the sector’s commitment to supporting people and places in the switch to clean energy.

Onn implemented a shadow board at RenewableUK as a platform for future leaders to gain experience and present new ideas. The former MP for Grimsby led the organisation to embrace flexible working practices to help retain talent in the sector when women take time out to have children.

Thames Water

Yorkshire Water’s innovation programme manager, Sam Bright, has begun a new role at Thames as its head of smart water this month. Bright led Yorkshire’s smart network pilot in Sheffield as part of the company’s work to detect leaks. In his new role, Bright will extend Thames’ work around data driven decision making.
