One Minute Intervew: Alex Tyler, head of operations, Maxim Eyes

Career history: Alex has worked in the energy industry for 15 years in generation, renewable energy and distribution. Before joining energy consultancy and connection specialist Maxim Eyes, she was head of customer connections, London region, at UK Power Networks.

What was your first job?

Washing up in a fish and chip restaurant when I was 14.

What are the best and worst parts of your job?

The best is working in a company that has great ambition for growth, is focused and customer-centric. The worst is the travelling, as I have to go into London and out the other side.

What’s your dream job and why?

I would love to be an author, because there are so many stories to tell.

What’s your most treasured possession?

Jewellery from my grandmother.

Where did you last go on holiday?

Paris.

Lucy Lawless

Reveal something about yourself not many people know.

I’ve published two books of short stories.

What album is currently in your car CD player?

I don’t have a car, but I’m listening to Merry-Go-Round by Jennifer Crook.

What’s your favourite film and TV programme?

My favourite film is Sleeper, with Woody Allen, the ultimate fish out of water. TV is The Thick of It, because even without a laughter track it’s the funniest thing on TV.

If you ruled the world, what would you do first?

Give every child a book.

What’s your favourite joke?

A very old Bob Monkhouse joke: “They laughed when I said I wanted to be a comedian – they’re not laughing now…”
