One Minute Intervew: Paul Emmett, CCS construction engineer, National Grid

Career history: having completed National Grid’s graduate development programme, Paul is working on carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects. He was commended by the Institute of Gas Engineers and Managers for his paper on sustainability in construction.

What was your first job?

This is my first job.

What are the best and worst parts of your job?

Best: getting to work outdoors and the variety of work that comes with my role. Worst: the rapid pace of change and developments within CCS at the moment mean you rarely pause for breath.

Describe a typical day.

There’s no such thing as a typical day – that’s the beauty of it, but also the challenge because every day is different.

What’s your dream job and why?

Top Gear presenter – driving expensive cars and getting paid to joke around with your mates sounds good to me.

What’s your most treasured possession?

My VW Scirocco.

Where did you last go on holiday?

Backpacking around northern India.

In the Hollywood film of your life, who would play you?

Chuck Norris.

I’ve bungee-jumped the world’s first bungee in New Zealand.

What album is currently in your car CD player?

Jay-Z and Kanye West, Watch the Throne.

What’s your favourite film and TV programme?

Film: The Dark Knight; TV: Homeland and The Apprentice.
