Opus Energy appoints new senior leadership team member

Opus Energy, owned by Drax Group, has appointed Rob Milloy to its senior leadership team.

Milloy, who has previous experience at Vodafone leading and managing the global and acquisition sales teams for Northern Europe and the Americas, has been appointed as sales director.

The role will involve heading the sales team with a view to ensuring the challenger brand’s continued growth.

With more than 23 years’ sales experience, Milloy has previously held various sales management and consultative positions while working at BT. He also spent five years on the BT Wales Regional Board.

Milloy said: “Opus Energy is the most exciting brand in the energy sector, so I see this as a fantastic opportunity for me to help further grow the business.

“I want to work for an innovative, driven business and Opus Energy certainly ticks this box; it’s shown itself to be a market leader in terms of SME energy provision and customer service, so I’m excited to get going.”

The new role will mean Milloy will be working across Opus Energy’s three sites in Northampton, Oxford and Cardiff. His responsibilities will include growing Opus Energy’s market share and customer base, which currently comprises more than 340,000 business locations across the UK.

Nikki Flanders, chief operating officer of Opus Energy, said: “Rob joins us at a critical juncture. The energy sector is going through a notable change, and especially as a challenger brand, it’s imperative that we have the right people on board to ensure that both our existing and prospective customers receive the standard of service we’re known for.

“I have no doubt Rob will be instrumental in increasing our reach to more businesses whilst cementing our reputation as one of the leading business energy companies. The team and I can’t wait to start working with him.”

Opus generated 90 per cent of its electricity from renewable sources last year and purchased power from more than 2,100 renewable generators in the UK.
