Ovo and Anesco unite to fight fuel poverty

The firms have signed a two-year contract to deliver the government’s Energy Companies Obligation (Eco) to residential properties most in need of energy efficiency upgrades, such as boiler replacements and loft insulation.

Anesco chief executive Adrian Pike said: “A key objective for the UK is not to build more generation, but for everybody to use less energy.

“Together our organisations are helping to drive efficiencies into the market, to make it sustainable for the long term and to help tackle the growing issue of fuel poverty.”

Ovo Energy Eco manager Sebastiaan Van Dort said the company “fully supports” the government in its drive to reduce energy consumption in the UK.

He said: “We’ve cut our prices 11 times over the past 18 months alone. By making homes more energy efficient… we’ll ultimately be able to reduce bills even further.”

Earlier this month, British Gas announced it had met its first Eco target four months ahead of its March 2015 deadline.
