Three companies have been named as the preferred developers for Galloper’s new renewables base in Harwich.
The agreements, which are worth a total of £7 million, will be for the construction of Galloper’s offshore windfarm operations and maintenance base, and associated infrastructure.
The Ipswich-based company RG Carter has been appointed as preferred bidder for the construction of the base building itself, while Jackson Civil Engineering Group has been chosen to build the access road.
Farrans Construction has been selected to build and install the pontoon.
“The operations and maintenance base will be the hub for all of the activity to maintain and operate the windfarm over its 23-year life,” said Galloper’s operations and maintenance manager, Sean Chenery.
“Therefore these contracts and the construction of the base would signify the beginning of a major long-term investment and jobs boost for the area.”
The director and general manager of RG Carter, James Wilson, added: “This facility will not only benefit the local community, but it will also involve substantial investment into the local economy for years to come.”
