REA launches trade associations to support solar and energy storage

UK Solar will work with the REA’s existing solar members to ensure a “clear pathway” to grid parity across all sectors of the solar energy market. Meanwhile UK Energy Storage will represent renewable energy storage technologies, supporting their commercialisation in the UK by developing policy.

REA chief executive Dr Nina Skorupska believes the integration of solar as a “major player” in the UK energy mix will “transform the power market” by lowering the bills of businesses, households and the public sector.

She said: “It is the mission of UK Solar to support and drive the transition to this solar future.”

The ability to store renewable power will help in the decarbonisation of the UK’s energy market, the REA added.

REA senior advisor Ray Noble said the integration of storage technologies will “bring down costs and increase the capacity of renewable energy available on demand” and could “revolutionise the energy mix”.
