Scottish independent renewable projects ‘worth £200 million a year’

Around 280 of these independent commercial projects exist in
Scotland, with a total capacity of 750MW, equivalent to a small
conventional power station or the demand of more than 500,000
households.

“Depending on weather conditions and other factors we estimate that
with current energy prices these projects could together be generating
power worth something in the order of £200 million a year,” said Iain
Robertson, generation sales manager at SmartestEnergy.

SmartestEnergy said that interest in independent generation projects
has increased in response to rising energy prices and the introduction
of financial subsidy schemes.
