Scottish Water hits leakage targets early

The utility has reduced its leakage by 54 million litres of water per day during 2012/13, and has met its ELL target – the level of leakage at which it would cost more to make further reductions in leakage than to produce and supply water to its customers.

Drinking water quality also reached a record high during 2012, with 99.88 per cent of samples complying with strict quality standards, while the company also invested £487 million in water infrastructure projects.

Customer satisfaction levels also out-performed Scottish Water’s customer satisfaction delivery plan target by five per cent, reaching a best-ever score of 88 per cent.

Douglas Millican, chief executive of Scottish Water, said: “Scottish Water has continued to go from strength to strength in the last year as we deliver the best value water and waste water services in Great Britain.”

Deputy first minister Nicola Sturgeon said the annual report shows “another strong performance, building on the excellent progress that it has made in recent years”.
