Severn Trent in major R&M recruitment drive

Severn Trent has embarked on a major recruitment drive, with the company looking to boost its customer service provision.

Severn Trent will recruit an extra 250 people in its repair and maintenance and engineering teams across the Midlands, the north and mid-Wales, bolstering its already 6,000-strong workforce.

Liv Garfield, Severn Trent chief executive, said: “We know how important it is for our customers to have a shower in the morning and to wake up with a freshly brewed cuppa, and our teams work hard every hour of every day to make that happen.

“They’re doing a cracking job working hard to keep everything working perfectly but we need even more people on board to make our service even better for our customers.

“So, alongside the teams who work to keep our network working perfectly, we also need people who can change our pipes, create a new connection or carry out major work to improve and update our network.

“Our teams are absolutely brilliant and this is a great chance to join an awesome company, while also making a real difference to millions of people.”

The company said it hopes to hire skilled individuals who can “hit the ground running” but will also look at training up the right people.

Severn Trent supplies 1.9bn litres of drinking water every day to its customers: the equivalent of 751 Olympic-sized swimming pools of drinking water.

It has the largest water pipes network of any company in England Wales, with its 142,000km network network enough to go round the Earth more than three-and-a-half times.
