UK power networks have a strong track record on reliability, in part thanks to a regulatory incentives regime which has driven a focus in recent years on tackling major disruptions to supply via the Customer Interruptions and Customer Minutes Lost mechanisms.

However, as increasing volumes of distributed generation and other low carbon technologies pile strain onto the grid, less dramatic but still notable impacts on customer experience are growing in the form of short interruptions.
