Smartest Energy has agreed to buy the business supplier Dual Energy for an undisclosed sum.
Dual Energy focusses on serving smaller non-domestic customers and encouraging them to have smart meters installed to improve the quality and efficiency of service.
Smartest Energy says the acquisition will complement its own supply business, which serves larger industrial and commercial customers. It already provides wholesale trading services to Dual Energy.
Louise Wapshare, vice-president of supply at Smartest Energy, said: “This is a really exciting opportunity for Smartest Energy to support the unique business model that Dual Energy have in this difficult to reach business segment, using our strengths to accelerate their activity to disrupt the business energy market”.
Dual Energy chief executive Ben Giddings added: “We have worked with the Smartest Energy team since we first began trading nine years ago and have been consistently impressed with their customer-focused approach. The acquisition means we will continue to drive business smart meter adoption.
