Solarplicity Utility Services enters administration

Solarplicity Utility Services and three subsidiary companies are now under administration, Utility Week can reveal.

According to The Gazette, the official government journal, Price Bailey LLP was appointed as the administrator on 30 July.

Price Bailey has confirmed that they have been “appointed over four entities” which, according to the Gazette, includes Solarplicity Utility Services, Subscription Energy Limited, Gamma Ray AM Limited and SPTMY Limited.

Meanwhile, an application is set to be lodged for a winding up petition against Solarplicity Supply, which is currently subject to a provisional order from Ofgem.

According to a spokesperson from the Insolvency and Companies Court, the judge directed the company to make the order themselves.

Last week Utility Week revealed that several winding up petitions were submitted by HMRC against the challenger energy supplier.

In response Solarplicity said four petitions were dismissed and the remaining two were adjourned, but Utility Week has since learned from the Insolvency and Companies Court that of the seven winding up petitions against Solarplicity and its subsidiaries, only two have been dismissed while three suspended cases relate to companies under the administration of Price Bailey.

Utility Week is currently awaiting a response from Solarplicity. The company has previously insisted its financial position is secure.

Earlier this week Brighton-based Tonik Energy announced it had acquired the majority of Solarplicity’s customers.

Toto also said it will become the preferred supplier of grid energy for Solarplicity’s community energy scheme.
