South East Water invests in new water testing facility

The company is transforming an empty warehouse in Farnborough, Hampshire, into a facility that will carry out more than 500,000 on water samples taken from reservoirs, boreholes, treatment works, and household taps every year.

The new laboratory will be the home to South East Water’s scientists, support staff, and high-tech equipment from autumn 2015, replacing the old facility in Frimley Green.

South East Water’s laboratory manager Richard Brown said: “Moving a laboratory is no easy task.

“Once the structural work is complete we have the more difficult job of moving the equipment, recalibrating it, and at the same time continuing the day job of ensuring top quality water for our customers.”

Brown added: “The move will take place in stages and we will employ extra staff to make sure that it is business as usual. This means that our customers can remain confident in the top quality tap water they drink.”
