The number of households and businesses on its southern England and northern Scotland patches generating their own power will soar tenfold to 800,000, the distribution network operator (DNO) predicts.
Using a smart grid system to manage the impact of new connections, SSEPD estimates it can provide that service for a total of £690 million. A spokeswoman claimed the company will offer connections cheaper than any other DNO.
Mark Mathieson, managing director of networks, said: “We are committed to making it as easy and cost effective as possible for customers to connect their low carbon generation to our networks.”
