Thames Water awards £1bn AMP6 contracts

The water company has awarded initial £500 million, five-year contracts to Agility (a coalition of J. Murphy and Sons and Morrison Utility services) and to KCD (a joint venture between Kier Services and Clancy Docwra).

The deals have the potential to be extended out for an additional ten years to deliver water networks and developer services.

Both Agility and KCD were chosen by Thames Water because of their “appropriate capacity and capability to deliver” and because “the cultures and behaviours that align with the company’s vision and values”.

Thames Water managing director of wholesale water Bob Collington said: “I am determined to ensure that investment and delivery are customer-focused at all times

“By bringing greater innovation to process and techniques, I hope we can build on the past to improve performance further in the future.”

KCD director Paul Fletcher added: “The alliance should provide an innovative and forward-thinking way to deliver comprehensive asset management services; enabling Thames Water to maximise the performance of its network, so we are very much looking forward to starting work with them.”

Thames Water’s target for AMP6 include reducing leakage and enhancing customer service.
