The Live events

Sustainability Live is the leading event for sustainable business management, providing a comprehensive showcase of the latest products and services across the energy, water and energy-from-waste sectors. Run by Utility Week’s parent company, Faversham House, the conference and exhibition returns to Birmingham on 16-18 April this year.

With three shows under one roof – Nemex energy Live, Iwex water Live and the new EfW Expo energy-from-waste Live – delegates and visitors are provided with a focused, world-class environment in which to do business.

Nemex

The theme of this year’s Nemex energy Live is New Energy Management Excellence. Responding to the ever-changing marketplace, the show will see a major focus on building energy management systems, energy efficiency and innovative energy management – from lighting to building fabrics, and from software to solar.

The opening session of the Nemex seminars will be on energy policy and will feature a presentation from Andrew Warren of the Association for the Conservation of Energy, providing delegates with his perspective on the government’s energy efficiency strategy; while Patrick Erwin, deputy director and head of the Energy Markets and Infrastructure Strategy and Programme Office at the Department of Energy and Climate Change, will discuss the Energy Bill and the current status of the legal process, following the Energy Bill’s introduction into Parliament last November.

Other highlights of the Nemex seminar programme include: KiWi Power presenting on energy usage; smart metering, with speakers from British Gas and Ofgem; the Energy Networks Association running a session on the Low Carbon Networks Fund; and the Energy Team presenting on how to reduce bills and use smart networks. Siemens will be there to talk about behavioural change, and NEF will be among several speakers highlighting issues around building energy management systems. Other sessions will cover a wide range of issues, including photovoltaics/solar, the Green Deal and energy management standards.

Iwex

Iwex water Live is the place to discover sustainable water solutions, savings and best practice. A visit to the conference also offers the opportunity to gain high-quality insight through the comprehensive seminar programme. Keynote topics include: catchment area management; energy savings; sustainable water management; smart water networks; and innovations in treatment technologies. With high-level networking and engagement with the best practitioners, Iwex is a vital event in the water resource manager’s calendar.

Almost 100 leading organisations are at the Iwex exhibition this year, including T-T Pumps, ABB, Hydra Valve Advanced Valve & Pipeline Solutions, British Water, KSB, Glasdon and Verder UK plus Draeger Safety, which will be launching the new Polytron 8000 flammable or toxic gas detector series. Designed specifically to measure gases using a uniform operating principle, this new innovation will make the entire process of fixed gas detection much easier from an operator point of view.
