Three suppliers win collective switching auctions

Scottish Power, British Gas, and the independent supplier Green Star Energy, have been named as the successful bidders in the Big Community Switch and the Big London Energy Switch schemes.

Scottish Power won two categories and will provide energy for pre-payment, dual fuel only customers and for online billing contracts for monthly direct debit accounts – for both dual fuel and electricity-only consumers.

British Gas won the supplier auction for pre-payment, electricity0only customers, while Green Star Energy won the auction for paper billed accounts paying by direct debit – both dual fuel and electricity only.

A total of 29,470 participants registered to take part in the Big Community Switch scheme, while 13,697 consumers registered for the scheme in the capital.

They will receive notification from iChoosr, which has been running both collective switching schemes, on 29 November, and they will then have until 13 January 2014 to accept or decline the offer provided.
