UK utilities boost profits for CKI

Along with other UK businesses Northern Gas Networks, Seabank Power and recently-acquired Wales & West Utilities, they contributed profits of HK$5,500 million (£470 million) to the group in 2012. That was 47 per cent up on the previous year.

UKPN, which is CKI’s largest overseas investment, contributed HK$3,500 million (£300 million) of profits, up 24 per cent on 2011. Northern Gas Networks’ profit contribution grew 25 per cent to HK$790 million (£68 million).

Northumbrian Water delivered HK$1,200 million (£98 million) in its first full year under CKI, following its acquisition in October 2011.

Bristol gas power generator Seabank Power netted the Hong Kong firm HK$130 million (£11 million), while Wales & West Utilities’ performance was in line with expectation since it was bought in October 2012.
