A number of projects are being carried out across the sector, with millions being spent on upgrading infrastructure across the UK.
From gas networks to solar power, several new projects have commenced this week.

Energy
Blackfinch Investments
Blackfinch Investments has acquired a new solar farm project on the Llŷn Peninsula, North Wales.
Llwyndyrus Solar Farm, acquired from Wiltshire-based developer Luminous Energy, will be one of the first subsidy-free solar farms to be built in Wales.
The project is in advanced stage of development and already has planning consent, a grid connection offer and the option for lease in place to install a 6MW solar farm. Construction is due to be completed by the end of 2019.
Northern Gas Networks
West Yorkshire
North of England gas distributor Northern Gas Networks (NGN) has announced a £50,000 investment to upgrade its network in the Millbridge area of Liversedge, West Yorkshire.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-August and involves replacing old metallic gas mains with new, more durable plastic pipes.
Cumbria
NGN has also begun a five-week essential network upgrade in Carlisle.
The project in Peter Lane is part of NGN’s ongoing investment in the area’s gas infrastructure and involves replacing more than 500m of existing metal gas pipes with plastic.
