The Swedish energy company Vattenfall has announced its wind division has made an underlying operating loss in the third quarter of this year, blaming grid outages and cable issues.
The company posted interim details today (27 October) of its performance between so far this year, which show the wind division made an underlying operating loss of 300 million SEK between July and September.
The report states the wind division has seen “strong results” in the first nine months of this year, but grid outages and cable issues in some offshore windfarms affected the third quarter.
Despite the last quarter, the wind division has still made an underlying operating profit of 752 million SEK since January, which is up on the same time period last year (480 million SEK) and generated 5.1 TWh since the beginning of the year.
Overall, the company made an underlying operating profit of 2,815 million SEK between July and September, bring the total amount for the year to 16,012 million.
The total amount of electricity generated by the company since the beginning of the year now stands at 92.2 TWh.
Between July and September this year, the company generated a total of 27.3 TWh.
