Water sector beats energy on complaints

More than half of recent complainants were happy with how their complaints were dealt with by their water company, according to a Consumer Focus survey.

The poll shows 51 per cent of people were very or quite satisfied with how they were dealt with by their water firm, while 36 per cent were very or quite dissatisfied. Of the sectors covered, only legal services performed better, scoring 68 per cent satisfaction.

However, customers were less happy with their treatment by energy firms – 46 per cent of consumers in the survey were very or quite dissatisfied with the way their energy company handled their complaint. Only 40 per cent were very or quite satisfied.

The report, conducted by DJS Research, polled customers who had complained to the two utility sectors, as well as the telecoms, financial and legal sectors, and Royal Mail.
