Welsh First Minister urges stronger energy powers

He made that clear as his administration published an energy strategy which backed new nuclear generation on Anglesey and a Severn Barrage, argued for more connections to the gas grid to help households in fuel poverty and pledged to make Wales a global centre for low carbon energy.

Jones said: “I will continue to highlight the fact that Wales is disadvantaged by UK energy policy and seek a fairer resolution to the current arrangements.

“In Wales, the energy market is not working effectively and we need clear long term support for key industries such as marine in Wales that is on a par with the rest of the UK.

“In taking the lead on energy, I am determined that we work effectively and use all of Welsh Government’s ability to deliver a positive transition to a wealthy, low carbon future.

“This is a huge opportunity to forge a better future and to once again lead a revolution in history; this is an energy decade for Wales”.
