WPD still to connect 3000 customers after storm

According to reports, at the storm’s peak around 19,000 of WPD’s customers in the South West and Wales were without power yesterday.

WPD said all customers in south Wales have now been reconnected, and it aims to have all remaining customers in the South West back online by the end of this afternoon.

Storm Imogen caused wind speeds to reach above 80mph in the South West of England yesterday.

The areas are also at risk of flooding, with more than 50 Environment Agency flood warnings in place, and around 180 flood alerts due to heavy rain.

Northern Powergrid and Scottish Hydro Electric Power reconnected 42,000 customers between them after the last storm, Storm Gertrude, hit the UK at the end of January.
