Yorkshire Water has gone out to tender on two major contracts for the AMP7 period worth a total of £1 billion.
The company said it is looking for firms to join it in the £750 million “complex civils” framework. This covers all structural engineering activity not delivered by its existing Tier 1 partners in the Yorkshire Alliance integrated delivery team.
One-off construction and refurbishment works on above or below ground assets will be included. This will involve operational treatment, collection or distribution facilities including process treatment and water retaining structures.
A separate contract will also be included for “minor civil and building works” worth an estimated £290 million.
This contract will encompass structures below 2m in height, or excavation to depths not exceeding 1.2m and repairs/modifications to existing structures.
The company says its first aim is to shortlist six firms to bid for the complex works framework and eight for the minor works contract.
Meanwhile the contracts for the utility’s main Tier 1 alliance delivery integrated delivery team for AMP7 are set to be awarded in April next year.
Yorkshire Water appointed Stantec (previously MWH) in a £50 million deal in January as its sole strategic planning partner (SPP) in a bid to drive innovation.
In November 2017, the water company announced plans to invest several million to transform its operational performance in a bid to become a “top performer” in the water industry.
