Ofgem rows back on ring-fencing credit balances

Ofgem has axed plans to require all suppliers to ring-fence their customers’ credit balances but is pressing ahead with proposals to ring-fence Renewables Obligation funds and introduce a minimum capital requirement. The revised measures to strengthen retailers' financial resilience were detailed in one of a series of consultations issued by the regulator on Friday (25 November), which also covered an extension to the Market Stabilisation Charge and changes to the price cap methodology.
