Utility Week Awards winners revealed

The winners for the Utility Week Awards 2017 were revealed at a glittering ceremony at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane in London last night (11 December).

Recognising excellence across the industry, a total of 13 awards were handed out to individuals and organisations, who have demonstrated excellence and achieved outstanding performance in the last year.

Tony Cocker, the former chief executive of Eon UK, walked away with our Industry Champion Award. He was recognised for reshaping the business in response to tackling the difficult issue of customer trust head-on.

Meanwhile Northumbrian Water (pictured) scooped the coveted Utility of the Year Award. The company impressed the judges with its “all round, consistent out-performance”.

It was described as a “recognised leader in its sector, a champion for its community and an outstanding example of a utility operating at the top of its game.”

More than 1,400 people from the utility sector attended the Bollywood themed gala dinner and awards ceremony, which was hosted by actress Joanna Lumley.

This year’s awards received a record number of entries and were judged by a leading panel of independent experts.
