Utility Week Live 2022 opens to visitor registrations

Utility Week Live 2022 has officially opened to visitor registrations as it prepares to reunite the UK’s energy and water industries at Birmingham’s NEC on 17 and 18 May 2022.

The home of collaborative innovation in utilities, Utility Week Live will welcome headline sponsor Capita and hundreds of market leading exhibitors sharing products and solutions from asset management through to customer care.

This year’s programme spans three dedicated workshop areas and five action packed theatres with more than 100 incredible speakers from across the energy, water and gas industries.

Utility Week Live will also feature a free-to-attend keynote stage with high profile speakers from across the industry taking on two of the biggest questions of the day: how to achieve the UK’s pressing net zero targets, and how to create the conditions for innovation.

On top of this, the exhibition’s seminar theatres will host a series of ‘challenge’ sessions, with practical, hands-on content to help visitors tackle challenges including: green transport; heat; wastewater treatment; energy flexibility and smart networks; assets; smart water networks; customer service; field operations; water quality and smart meters.

At the cutting edge of innovation

Utility Week Live will also see the launch of a new Spring Water Innovation Hub – with water companies including Severn Trent, United Utilities, Anglian Water, Northumbrian Water and Welsh Water sharing their innovations projects, insights and experiences – alongside the return of the Energy Innovation Centre’s Innovation Zone, with distribution network operators including UK Power Networks, Northern Powergrid, SSE and Scottish Power sharing their innovations alongside some of the industry’s most exciting SME innovators.

What’s more, the Isle Water Innovation Zone will bring together world-standard innovators in the water space with a dedicated content area while a new Institute of Water Skills Challenge will see teams of apprentices from the across the industry competing for the crown of ‘Skills Champion 2022’ in a series of hands-on time trials and a Mastermind Quiz.

With a new central meeting hub, visitors can also pre-arrange meetings with fellow visitors, exhibitors and speakers via our show app; take a seat for an informal chat; or even plug in to our free ‘work from UWL’ desks to dial into the office.

Commenting on the official opening of visitor registrations, Utility Week Live portfolio director Ellen Bennett said: “At Utility Week Live, we believe that unlocking collaborative innovation is the key to solving the many pressing challenges facing utilities today – from the overarching need to lead the transition to net zero to the granular, on-the-ground challenges of tackling operational efficiency, creating  flexible and smart infrastructure that is fit for the future, and delivering best-in-class customer service.

“Individuals and even businesses can’t solve these challenges alone. It’s only by working together, and with their wider stakeholders, that the UK’s electricity, gas and water industries will be able to deliver transformation at the scale and speed required. We are delighted to play our part in bringing collaborative innovation to life, with the whole show experience geared towards making connections; discovering innovation, and sparking ideas and actions.

“We have been absolutely delighted with the industry response to Utility Week Live 2022 so far – it’s truly fantastic to know that, like us, our exhibitors and visitors can’t wait to be together face to face once more, and enjoy all the benefits that a large scale live event has to offer. We’ve signed up more than 100 incredible speakers from across the industry who are ready to share their insights from the front line, and we have a hall bursting with hundreds of exhibitors at the cutting edge of innovation.”

Visitors are also invited to attend new ‘collaborate exchange’ sessions for informal discussions with their peers on topics including recruitment and retention and behavioural change.

This year’s event also sees the introduction of a host of new innovations to enhance the exhibition experience, including a new digital app, powered by Swapcard, enabling visitors to browse the show before they attend, selecting the exhibitors and visitors they want meet and building their own content programme, and a cutting-edge paperless exhibition experience – with ticketless entry and the ability to move around the show collecting information digitally via QR codes.

Utility Week Live 2022 will also feature the very latest exhibition walling technology, creating a highly sustainable show and a more  open show floor geared towards networking.

“After two years away from the live show, we know that Utility Week Live 2022 is going to be a reunion to remember,” Bennett added. “We can’t wait to see you there.”
