The major utilities exhibition Utility Week Live (UWL) has been moved to May 2021, event organiser Faversham House has announced, while also revealing the launch of a new digital exhibition to take place in November this year.
UWL was due to take place at Birmingham’s NEC in November as a physical event, having been postponed from its usual timing in May. While government guidelines do permit a physical show to go-ahead, Faversham House said it felt it was too early to do so considering the front-line status of utility companies
The physical event will now take place on 18-19 May next year, however Faversham House will also host a virtual exhibition – Utility Week Live Online – on 10-11 November 2020.
Amanda Barnes, chief executive of Faversham House, said she and the event team are excited about the prospect of the new online show, which she said will offer a “cutting edge, immersive digital experience” for delegates and exhibitors.
Commenting on the decision to move the date of the physical show, Barnes explained that Faversham House had been closely monitoring the Covid-19 pandemic and and relevant government guidance on large-scale events.
She said: “While the government guidelines permit us to go ahead safely with a physical show in November, we feel it is too early for our industry, particularly given the front-line status of the utility companies. After careful consideration we have therefore decided to move UWL to May 2021. We are proud of the UWL experience and committed to maintaining the volume of exhibitors and visitors which the industry has come to expect and enjoy.”
